Former South African wicketkeeper Mark Boucher has lavished praise on the Indian cricket team after their impressive 61-run win over South Africa in the 1st T20I on Friday. Boucher was particularly impressed with the bowling spells of Indian spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Varun Chakravarthy, who he felt made the South African batsmen look like “children” and “out of form”.

Mark Boucher lauds Team India’s dominant performance

Mark Boucher also singled out Heinrich Klaasen for criticism, saying that he looked “out of sync” and “didn’t look like he was in good form at all”.

“Varun Chakravarthy has come on leaps and bounds. The way that he bowled tonight with Bishnoi, what a great partnership that the two of them had in the middle of there. Klaasen looked out of sync, to be honest, he didn’t look like he was in good form at all,” Boucher said while speaking to JioCinema.

“They were never really in with a shout, always looked like something that gonna happen, something that was gonna give. I think they bowled nine balls for three runs at some stage to build up pressure. They really made it almost look like men against boys to be fair,” he added.

India’s win in the first T20I has given them a 1-0 lead in the four-match series, and Mark Boucher’s praise is a testament to the team’s dominant performance. The Indian spin duo of Bishnoi and Chakravarthy was particularly impressive, bowling tight spells and making it difficult for the South African batsmen to score.

Earlier in the match, Indian opener Sanju Samson smashed a century to help India score 202/8 in 20 overs. It was Samson’s second consecutive T20I century for India having scored one in the third and final T20I against Bangladesh last month. Samson also became the first Indian to score back-to-back T20I tons.
