IND vs SA 2nd T20I: After a phenomenal show in the first India vs South Africa T20I match, the tables have quickly turned for Suryakumar Yadav -led Team India in the second match of the series. South Africa defeated the World T20 champions by three wickets in what promised to be a thrilling encounter. This was India’s only second loss in 2024 after their famous T20 World Cup victory in Barbados earlier this year.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both retired from the shortest international format after they outplayed the Proteas in the T20 World Cup final. The team is currently in a transitional phase with different combinations being tried under the leadership of India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav. India will defend their World T20 crown in 2026 and the tournament will be hosted by India. One of the brightest prospect that India has for the T20 World Cup is Varun Chakaravarthy , who has been nothing, but impressive so far.

Varun Chakaravarthy Registers An Unwanted Feat

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy has been growing from strength to strength in T20Is. In a low scoring affair in the IND vs SA 2nd T20I,  picked up his maiden five-wicket haul at the St George’s Park in Gqeberha. With this fifer,  also became the fifth bowler for India to pick up a five-wicket haul. But, much to India’s misfortunes, this was also the first time when an Indian team lost a T20I game despite one of their bowlers picking up five wickets.

India were just defending a meagre 124 runs and  made the chase extremely difficult for the Proteas as he picked up five wickets by giving away just 17 runs. The KKR spinner registered an unwanted record and became only the third bowler to register best figures from a full-member nation in a losing cause.
