Schools in Chennai to Remain Closed Today After Heavy Rain Alert

Chennai: In light of the heavy rain forecast, Chennai district collector, Rashmi Siddharth Zagade has declared a holiday for all schools in the capital city for Tuesday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert across multiple districts, with alerts set for 12 districts on November 12, 17 districts on November 13, 27 districts on November 14, and 25 districts on November 15.

As per the weather department, heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Villuppuram districts, Puducherry and Karaikal area today.

Earlier a week ago, several areas in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu experienced water logging due to heavy rains in the region.

The areas of Thitagudi, Pradyantheru and Mettutheru, experienced waterlogging, affecting traffic in the area.

Tamil Nadu’s southern region received heavy rainfall on November 3 due to the deep circulation in the area of the Gulf of Mannar South Peninsular India.
