India and Australia are al set to lock horns against each other in the five-match Test series, called the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The first match of the much-anticipated contest is scheduled to take place in Perth from November 22 onwards. The Indian cricket team has already arrived in Australia with Virat Kohli being the first one to reach and Jasprit Bumrah being the last. The Indian team went to Australia in two batches, while Virat Kohli flew in separately. Captain Rohit Sharma , on the other hand, has not reached yet as he is likely to miss the first Test match due to personal reasons. 

The whole of Australia is keeping a keen eye on the Indian team as they get ready to spend the next one and half month in the country. Every single newspaper in Australia was filled with a cover photo of India’s veteran batter Virat Kohli, who is also considered a superstar in the world of cricket and of course in Australia, with whom he has had a bitter-sweet relationship throughout his career. Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team has started their practice at the WACA Ground to prepare for the blockbuster BGT 2024 opener.

WACA Ground Under Lockdown, Staff Not Allowed To Film 

Jackson Barrett & Glen Quartermain of The West Australian reported that the WACA ground has been put under a lockdown for the Indian cricket team to practice in solitude, away from the public eye. The ground has been covered with nets and staff at the WACA have been asked to keep their phones inside. It is similar to the time when the Indian team arrived in Perth for the 2022 T20 World Cup .

Indian captain Rohit Sharma had said after the final Test match against New Zealand that the players will undergo match simulations upon reaching Australia. Earlier, a practice match was scheduled against the Ruturaj Gaikwad -led India A side but that was later called off by the BCCI following the Test series whitewash handed by the Kiwis. Rohit had explained that it is better for the players to do match simulations rather than a practice game because each one of them will get more time in middle. The batters will get to bat more and the bowlers will get to bowl more.
