Team India’s young upstarts have been showing up and showing out lately, with several stars getting the chance to represent Team India against other cricketing stalwarts. One such name is Yashasvi Jaiswal, whose rags-to-riches tale in the sport has been a supreme inspiration. The 23-year-old has been a brute force opener for Team India and has often stood up to the task when the Men in Blue needs someone to show up and score runs. Jaiswal’s grit and intent have helped him become the next big thing in Indian Cricket. The star cricketer recently secured a historic feat and has aligned himself in the League of Legends.

On Day 2 of the 2nd Match between India and New Zealand at the MCA Stadium in Pune, Yashasvi Jaiswal held on to score 30 runs off 60 balls before losing his wicket. The Indian opener’s short-lived knock helped him to take his overall run mark past the 1000-run milestone in 2024. He is now a part of a group which features elite cricketers

India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal joined an exclusive club after he scored 1000 runs in a single calendar year before turning 23 years old. The star southpaw batter is the fifth batter to reach the historic feat after legends like Garfield Sobers, Graeme Smith, AB de Villiers and Alastair Cook. Jaiswal becomes the second batter to rake up a thousand runs in the year 2024 after English batter Joe Root.

In 2024, Yashasvi scored 1,007 runs in ten Test matches with an aggressive strike rate of 75.88 and a solid average of 59.23. The Indian opener has had a fantastic time so far, where he helped deliver some strong efforts for the Indian Cricket Team.

Speaking of the IND vs NZ match, R Ashwin and Washington Sundar set off a massive collapse as the spin battery knocked out the New Zealand batters. Ash took three wickets, and Sundar took seven to finish New Zealand’s innings on 259. When stumps were called on Day 1 of play, Team India was at 16/1. However, Day 2 brutally exposed India’s vulnerability to spin bowling. Despite decent performances from Ravindra Jadeja, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Men in Blue were dismissed for 156 runs. With New Zealand still leading, they hope to extend their lead and put pressure on the Indian cricket team, handing the hosts a rare home Test series defeat.
