Amid all the noise surrounding the marquee ICC event, a video has gone viral on social media where a former Pakistan cricketer can be seen threatening to kill people with a sword, and his words are being claimed to be over India not travelling to the host nations for the upcoming ICC tournament. Did Javed Miandad Threaten To Slaughter People Amid the Champions Trophy Controversy? Here’s What We Know 

A video of former Pakistan skipper Javed Miandad has been going viral over the social media platform ‘X’ [Formerly known as Twitter]. Standing in a huge public gathering, wearing a Pakistan jersey, Miandad is seen threatening to slaughter people as he holds a sword in his hand. The video clip has resurfaced amid the tensions over the hosting rights of the 2025 Champions Trophy and after it was learnt that Team India will not be travelling to the neighbouring country. The video has become widely popular on ‘X’ lately.

But the video dates back to 2019 when he was part of a rally and it is nowhere related to the upcoming Champions Trophy crisis. Many leading publications in our country have reported the video and claimed it to be a part of the ongoing tensions among the cricket boards. The video is indeed old and is not related to the ongoing scenario.

Now that India has assured that the national cricket team will not be travelling to Pakistan, the PCB is seeking answers. The International Cricket Council (ICC) is mulling over the situation at hand. Several reports suggest that the hosting rights could be taken away from the current hosts, and a SENA nation is being considered as the new host.

PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi has ruled out the possibility of hosting CT 2025 in a ‘Hybrid Model’, as they had expected a humble gesture to be reciprocated after Pakistan travelled to India during the ODI World Cup in 2023. As the 2025 edition of the Champions Trophy snowballs into crisis, it is yet to be seen what happens next.
