India vs New Zealand: Having been called up in the playing XI of the second India vs New Zealand Test, Washington Sundar capitalised on the opportunity and rose to the occasion. The all-rounder picked up his maiden five wicket haul for India. Sundar’s brilliance with the ball has put Team India in a commanding position in Pune. The returning hero finished with 7 wickets and gave away just 59 runs in 23.1 overs. Courtesy of Sundar’s exceptional display, New Zealand bundled out at 259. India trail the three match series 0-1.

Washington Sundar Stood Tall Against New Zealand in Pune

Off-spinner Washington Sundar took seven wickets as India dismissed New Zealand for 259 on day one of the second Test here on Thursday. Picked in the playing eleven ahead of Kuldeep Yadav, Washington repaid the faith shown in him by the team management with career-best figures in his fifth Test. New Zealand’s last seven wickets fell for 62 runs. Brief scores: New Zealand 259 all out in 79.1 overs (Devon Conway 76, Rachin Ravindra 65; Washington Sundar 7/59, R Ashwin 3/64).
