Sunil Gavaskar Reveals His Bond With Former Rival Allan Border, Shares A Hilarious Tale

While speaking to 7 Cricket, Sunil Gavaskar opened up on his camaraderie with Allan Border off the game. Gavaskar revealed that every time Border meets him, he gets teased by the Aussie after he dismissed the Indian cricketer in one of the matches they played against each other. Gavaskar also shared that Allan Border addresses him as ‘bunny.’

“Well, because he’s (Border) got me out, that’s the problem. You see, he’s got me out. I never got a chance to bowl to him. If I got a chance to bowl to him and get him out it might have been different. But you know he’s a little, you know, things that you know, used to come in and do this and bowl. And can you imagine he got one ball to turn, and I played that down the wrong line, top edge and I was out.

“So you know, I am reminded of it every time I bump into him. He comes and says ‘Hello Bunny, how are you?’ What do I say to that?,” Gavaskar told 7 Cricket.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be on the line when Team India and Australia lock horns for the title while down under. The Test series will be critical for India as their chance to the World Test Championship Final will also be on the line. Both sides will lock horns in the first test, which will take place at Perth’s Optus Stadium on November 22, 2024.
