Jammu: In a major reshuffle in the Jammu and Kashmir police, at least 38 police officers including IPS officers have been transferred and assigned new responsibilities in the Union Territory. The transfer of IPS officers included the Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) of 09 districts of the UT, amidst the concern over the increasing terrorist attacks in the past few months.
The transfer and postings of district police chiefs of Baramulla, Ganderbal, Handwara, Rajouri, Samba, Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, Reasi and the police district of Awantipora have taken place with six of 10 districts of Jammu division getting new police chiefs.
According to an order issued by Principal Secretary (Home) Chandrakar Bharti, 38 SSPs and SPs have been transferred, including additional SPs, commandants of armed battalions, police headquarters, traffic, security and CID wings.
The SSPs of the 09 districts, who have been transferred across Jammu and Kashmir are:
- IPS Gurinderpal Singh has been appointed as the SSP of Baramulla
- IPS Raghav S has been appointed as the SSP of Ganderbal
- IPS Gaurav Sikarwar has been appointed as the SSP of Rajouri
- IPS Virender Kumar Manhas has been appointed as the SSP of Samba
- IPS Sandeep Mehta has been appointed as the SSP of Doda
- IPS Javed Iqbal has been appointed as the SSP of Kishtwar
- IPS Shafqat Hussain has been appointed as the SSP of Poonch
- IPS Paramvir Singh has been appointed as the SSP of Reasi
- IPS Mushtaq Ahmed has been appointed as the SSP of Handwara
Apart from the transfer of the SSP ranks police officers, IPS Parvez Ahmad Dar has been appointed as the Additional SP Ganderbal, Vivek Shekhar Sharma has been appointed as SP North Jammu and Mohan Lal has been appointed as the Additional SP Poonch, while Bhishma Qazi has been appointed as SP City East Srinagar.
