After nearly a year, Shami returned to his winning ways and put up a spectacular spell at the Ranji Trophy for Bengal. The India pacer made a statement that was heard as clear as day, implying that he looked ready for action on the national side. As Shami makes a strong case for a comeback, calls for bringing him down under for the Border Gavaskar Trophy have heightened. With BGT gradually closing in, Mohammad Shami’s childhood coach made a tremendous revelation as he pointed to the star pacer’s comeback to the Indian National Cricket Team.

Mohammad Shami’s Childhood Coach Offers A Timeline On The Pacer’s Team India Comeback

While speaking to the Indian Express, Mohammad Shami’s childhood coach, Mohammed Badruddin, revealed how the pace bowling superstar confounded the setbacks during his rehab procedure and made a successful comeback in cricket with domestics at the Ranji Trophy. He also offered a huge update on Shami’s comeback on the national side, saying that he could join Team India as soon as the Border Gavaskar Trophy series, where he could return at The Gabba.

“He will be joining the Indian team after the Adelaide (second) Test. Now that he is back, proved his fitness, picked up wickets, he will be crucial for the team in the second half of the tour,” coach Badruddin said.

Mohammed Badruddin added that Shami had initially targeted the New Zealand Test series for the comeback, but he intended to only return after becoming 100% fit for bowling action. He also revealed that after Shami received the clearance from the NCA, he went back to his farmhouse, put his fitness to the test and used a traditional tactic to convince himself that he was good to go.

“He runs barefeet in the mud. That’s his technique to test his fitness. That’s the amount of hard work Shami puts in,” he said.

While Mohammad Shami made his domestic comeback with a bang after scalping a four-fer, it is yet to be seen whether he can make his national team comeback in the upcoming test series.
