Just 24 hours after denying reports that Aqib Javed would replace Jason Gillespie as head coach, the PCB announced Javed’s appointment as interim head coach of the Pakistan’s white-ball teams until the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This contradictory decision has left fans and experts alike scratching their heads.

The PCB had initially dismissed reports of Aqib Javed’s appointment, confirming that Jason Gillespie would remain in charge of the team. However, the board has now reversed its stance, appointing Javed as interim head coach and assigning him additional responsibilities.

Pakistan’s men’s team has a busy schedule ahead, with several international matches lined up. They will play three ODIs and three T20Is in Zimbabwe from November 24 to December 5, followed by three white-ball matches in South Africa from December 10 to 22.

In preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Pakistan will host an ODI triangular series featuring New Zealand and South Africa from February 8 to 14. This series will serve as a crucial warm-up for the team ahead of the Champions Trophy.
