Bus Carrying Sabarimala Devotees Overturns in Wayanad, Over 20 Injured

Wayanad (Kerala): A bus carrying reportedly 50 devotees returning from the Sabarimala Temple overturned near Thirunelli in Wayanad early Tuesday morning, leaving 27 passengers injured, police said. The accident occurred around 6 AM.

The passengers, including two children, were traveling back to Hunsur in Mysore after visiting the Lord Ayyappa temple when the mishap took place. The injured were rushed to Mananthavady Medical College in Wayanad, where doctors confirmed that their injuries were not severe.  

The bus was carrying devotees who had visited Sabarimala Temple during the Mandala-Makaravilakku festival, which began on November 15. This festival marks the start of the annual pilgrimage season, drawing thousands of devotees to the temple.  

Police are investigating the incident to determine the cause of the accident. Further details are awaited.
