Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident in Odisha’s Bolangir district, a 20-year-old tribal woman was allegedly assaulted by a man, and human faeces were forced into her mouth.

The incident occurred on November 16 in Jurabandha village under the Bangamunda police station area.

As per the filed FIR, the accused who is a non-tribal man was operating a tractor on the woman’s farmland and damaging crops on her land. When the woman protested to the act, he allegedly assaulted her and forced human faeces into her mouth.

The woman’s aunt tried to intervene and was also reportedly assaulted by the accused.

Addressing a press conference in Bhubaneswar BJD MP Niranjan Bisi alleged police inaction in the case.

The shocking incident has sparked anger among the tribal community. He warned that if the law-and-order situation in Bangamunda worsens, the state government would be held accountable.

Bolangir Superintendent of Police Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo told news agency PTI that the accused is absconding and efforts are underway to apprehend him.

“We have formed two special teams to nab him. Even police teams have been sent to neighbouring states in search of him,” the SP said.

Another police officer said that a case under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act has been registered.
