Chennai: Lawyers in Tamil Nadu staged protests outside Madras High Court on Thursday, demanding justice and better security after a 30-year-old lawyer was brutally attacked outside the court complex in Krishnagiri district. The incident, which occurred in the Hosur area about 40 km from Bengaluru, on Wednesday morning, was caught on camera and has sparked outrage across the legal community.

What Happened?

Kannan, who worked under a senior advocate, had just finished appearing in a case and was leaving the court premises when a man named Anandhan stopped him. Without warning, Anandhan pulled out a sickle and began attacking Kannan.

A bystander captured the horrifying incident on video. It showed Anandhan repeatedly hitting Kannan on the head, even after Kannan fell unconscious and collapsed to the ground. The attack was relentless and left Kannan severely injured.

Kannan was rushed to a private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. His condition is reported to be critical.

After the attack, Anandhan fled the scene but later surrendered at a Judicial Magistrate’s court. Police believe the assault was motivated by a personal grudge, but the exact reasons are still under investigation.

Lawyers Protest for Justice

The brutal attack has sparked outrage among lawyers across Tamil Nadu. Lawyers staged large protests outside Madras High Court demanding justice for Kannan and better security for legal professionals. Many called for stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure the safety of those working in the judiciary.
