IND vs AUS 1st Test: KL Rahul Fumes After Controversial Dismissal At Perth, Gives Earful To Umpires

The first session of the first test between India and Australia was shadowed with controversy as Indian batter KL Rahul was given out in a controversial manner which has caused massive outrage in the cricket community. As the first test in the Optus Stadium in Perth got underway, KL Rahul was given out after a controversial caught behind decision by the third umpire. 

KL Rahul was given out despite there being no conclusive proof of the ball nicking his bat and nevertheless KL Rahul was given out. KL Rahul as he walked back, made his displeasure be known to the umpires. 

How Did The KL Rahul Dismissal Controversy Erupt? 

KL Rahul was playing a disciplined innings and looked to be India’s best batter on a morning that has seen only low scores by everyone around him, KL Rahul was given ‘OUT’ after a controversial call from the third umpire. Aussie bowler Mitchell Starc bowled an absolute ripper that looked as if it edged Rahul’s bat.

The original decision by the on-field umpire was not-out but Australia decided to review it. The third-umpire used the ‘Snicko’ technology to check whether there was a spike or not. The snicko technology showed a clear spike but the problem came in that KL Rahul’s bat also slammed against his pad which the umpire did not take into account. 

Also the third-umpire did not make use of all the available angles leading to inconclusive proof regarding the dismissal of KL Rahul.
