Grade 5 Student Assaulted at School: Parents Demand Action?

Mumbai, November 27, 2024 – A shocking incident at a local school in Mulund has raised serious concerns about student safety after Kid Influencer Raunak Singh Gujral, a grade 5 student, was allegedly assaulted by a classmate, Arjun Mehta (name changed), within the school premises. The incident, which occurred earlier today, has left Raunak’s family distressed and questioning the school’s ability to ensure a secure environment for its students.

According to Raunak’s Mother, Arvinder Kaur, Arjun Mehta not only physically attacked Raunak but also displayed repeated aggressive behavior, including harassment and food snatching. “This isn’t the first time Arjun has behaved violently,” said Arvinder, “and another child was also harmed when they tried to intervene during the incident.”

The family has filed a Non-Cognizable Complaint (NC) at Mulund Police Station and is in the process of escalating the matter to an FIR for physical assault and causing harm. Despite initial attempts to resolve the matter amicably, Arjun’s parents allegedly refused to cooperate, leaving the Gujral family with no choice but to take legal action.

Parents have refrained from naming the school till the school confirms the next source of action.

Demands from the School Administration

Arvinder has formally requested the following measures from the school administration:

  1. CCTV Footage Access: The family has demanded access to CCTV footage of the incident to aid police investigations and potential legal proceedings.
  2. Urgent Meeting: A request for an immediate meeting with school authorities to address the issue and understand the steps being taken to ensure student safety.
  3. Disciplinary Action: The Gujral family has urged the school to impose strict disciplinary measures against Arjun Mehta (name changed), citing the ongoing threat his behavior poses to other students.

“Such negligence jeopardizes not just my son’s well-being but the safety of every child in this school. This criminal mentality among students cannot be tolerated,” Randeep Gujral, father of Raunak Gujral emphasised in his letter to the school.

A Call for Accountability

The incident has ignited a debate about the responsibility of educational institutions to safeguard children under their care. Parents and concerned citizens are calling for stricter oversight and immediate measures to prevent such incidents from recurring.

As the investigation unfolds, the Gujral family hopes the school will act decisively to restore faith in its commitment to ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all its students.

The school administration has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
