Bengaluru: The murder of Assamese vlogger Maya Gogoi  in Bengaluru has shocked the country as new details emerge about the suspect, Aarav Hanoy. According to police reports, Hanoy spent two days with Gogoi’s lifeless body in a service apartment in the Indiranagar area before fleeing the scene. During this time, Hanoy reportedly smoked cigarettes while sitting in front of the corpse.

The crime came to light on November 24 when Maya’s body was discovered with severe injuries, including a fatal stab wound to the chest and head trauma. Maya, who had been residing in a paying guest facility in Hoodi, Bengaluru, with her sister and cousin, was last seen alive on the day of the murder.

After the murder, Hanoy allegedly booked a cab on the morning of November 26 and traveled to the Bengaluru railway station. Upon arrival, he switched off his phone, complicating efforts to track his movements. Investigators have since reconstructed his escape using CCTV footage, witness statements, and Call Detail Records (CDR). Further investigation revealed that Hanoy later took a taxi to the Majestic area in Bengaluru’s Central Business District, where he again disabled his phone to avoid detection.

Reports suggest that Hanoy premeditated the murder, as he allegedly ordered a rope through an online delivery service prior to committing the crime.

Authorities have formed two special teams, led by Indiranagar Police Station Inspector Sudarshan, to locate Hanoy. One team is conducting searches within Bengaluru, while another has been dispatched to Kerala , where Hanoy is suspected to have connections.

Police are closely reviewing CCTV footage from the route Hanoy took after leaving the service apartment and are appealing for information from the public that could assist in his capture.
