Indian stars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have not been at their best in recent times, especially in red-ball cricket, and are hence facing the heat. Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has claimed that Rohit and Kohli are taking cricket for granted after having won the T20 World Cup . The two cricketers have also become the centre of attraction after India lost the first two Tests against New Zealand. Basit has warned the Indian team of tough times in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy if the two don’t come up with a better batting display.

‘They are not concentrating on the game’

“They are not concentrating on the game after the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Earlier, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma used to have proper practice sessions but they have made it optional. It seems they are taking cricket for granted. Virat and Rohit think that if they get out early in one innings, they will score big in the next. But cricket doesn’t work like that. The water has gone above the head now and if these two don’t score runs in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, India wIll be in big trouble,” he said.

Rohit-Kohli Numbers vs NZ

The New Zealand side won the first Test in Bengaluru by eight wickets. Then at Pune, NZ again won the game by 113 runs to seal a historic series win on Indian soil. Kohli amassed 88 runs in four innings at an average of 22, while Rohit managed 62 runs at 15.50.

Rohit and Kohli would be key to India’s fortunes in the third and final Test at Mumbai. The two players would also be India’s biggest hopes when they go down under to Australia for a five-match Test series. All these Test matches would be part of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle.
