India Economic Summit : Aman Gupta, co-founder of boAt and one of the prominent investors on Shark Tank India, shared valuable advice for aspiring entrepreneurs, stressing the importance of honesty and constructive feedback in the startup ecosystem.
In a candid conversation, Gupta highlighted the responsibility that investors bear while evaluating business ideas on the show, especially with millions of viewers and young entrepreneurs watching from across the country.
“When we are in Shark Tank and sit there as investors, with the whole of India watching us, and young entrepreneurs looking up to us, we can’t just praise or support all ideas. People are watching us, and it is our duty to let them know if their ideas are lacking something,” Gupta said.
“We need to be honest, and if there’s something missing, we should tell them to work on it and improve.”
Gupta emphasized that while positivity is important, it should not come at the cost of misleading the entrepreneurs. “We are not here just to give a ‘yes’ or ‘no’. We are here to help these entrepreneurs see the gaps in their ideas, encourage them to address shortcomings, and make their ventures more viable,” he explained.
