‘Rahul Gandhi’s Four Generations Won’t Be Able To Restore Article 370’
“National Conference formed the government in Kashmir. Congress party is an ally of JKNC. They passed the resolution to restore Article 370 in Kashmir. Even the fourth generation of Rahul Gandhi will not be able to restore Article 370 in Kashmir. Prime Minister Modi has done a lot of work for the security of the country. During the 10-year rule of the Congress party, terrorists used to come from Pakistan and create bloodshed and no action was taken against them due to greed for the vote bank,” Home Minister Amit Shah said.
“Attacks took place in Uri and Pulwama. In just ten days, surgical strikes were carried out in Pakistan to eliminate terrorists….” he added.
Amid chaos in the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly on Wednesday, a resolution calling for the restoration of the region’s special status was passed. BJP legislators tore copies of the document, stormed the well of the House, and raised slogans against the speaker.
J-K Assembly Passes Resolution To Restore Article 370
The resolution was introduced by J&K Deputy Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) leader Surinder Choudhary which called upon the “Government of India to initiate dialogue with elected representatives” to bring back the region’s special status, scrapped in 2019.
“This legislative assembly reaffirms the importance of the special status and constitutional guarantees, which safeguarded the identity, culture, and rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and expresses concern over their unilateral removal. This assembly emphasizes that any process for restoration must safeguard both national unity and the legitimate aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” the resolution read.
In August 2019, the Centre abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir, and reorganized the former state into two Union Territories — Jammu & Kashmir, with an assembly, and Ladakh, without one. On December 11 of the previous year, the Supreme Court upheld the revocation of Article 370.
