New Delhi: A joyride turned tragic for a teenage girl in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh after her hair got tangled in the roller of a swing, resulting in the complete tearing off of her scalp.

A chilling video of the accident has also emerged showing the girl’s scalp and hair hanging from the swing’s rod, while bystanders scrambled to stop the Ferris wheel.

The video, which went viral on social media on Monday, showed that her entire scalp was detached by the time the swing came to a halt, leaving her critically injured.

The accident took place during a fair in Madhonagar village in the Talgram police station area of Kannauj on Saturday evening, where the victim, 13-year-old Anuradha Katheria, was left bleeding profusely from her head before she collapsed at the scene.

Her family immediately took her to a nearby private hospital in Gursahaiganj. As her condition deteriorated, she was then moved to PGI in Lucknow for advanced care.

Every year, the Shri Shri 1008 Swami Nityananda Seva Samiti hosts a two-day fair in Madhonagar, offering puja ceremonies, processions, and a variety of rides for visitors.

A similar incident occurred in 2022 when a day of amusement turned tragic at an amusement park in Mohali, Punjab

The ‘Spinning Swing’ ride suddenly collapsed at the Dussehra Grounds in Phase-8, injuring over 16 people, including several children.
