Channapatna: Karnataka Minister for Minority Affairs, BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan appears to have triggered another row in the state after he was reportedly caught, in a viral video, distributing money openly in the Channapatna Assembly constituency ahead of the by-election. The Opposition, Janata Dal Secular (JDS) on Sunday posted a video of the Congress leader and Karnataka minister allegedly distributing money during a roadshow. The JDS has registered a complaint with the Election Commission and sought action against the minister.
Notably, the Channapatna Assembly constituency is slated to witness a by-election, where all major political parties are locking horns to ensure victory of their candidate. It was during a roadshow that a video of the Congress leader was captured and shared on social media claiming that Khan was distributing money ahead of the voting.
The JDS alleged that Karnataka’s Siddaramaiah government is misusing machinery and power during the elections to lure the voters and win the election. It is also being claimed that Khan not only distributed money but also pressured people to vote in favour of his party.
The Janata Dal Secular Party has demanded that the Election Commission take the Congress leaders’ money-sharing incident seriously and take appropriate action against the minister.
