Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr was the heavy favourite to win the Ballon d’Or in 2024 given he led Real Madrid to their 15th Champions League and 36th La Liga crown.

However, reports have confirmed that Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri has instead won the Ballon d’Or ahead of Vinicius Jr. This news has left many football fans fuming as they have slammed France Football and UEFA claiming that Ballon d’Or has lost all its credibility.

Real Madrid boycott Gala

Vinicius Jr was the outright favourite to win the Ballon d’Or in 2024 but hours prior to the ceremony it was reported that Rodri has won the award. The reports have further suggested that Real Madrid are angry over Vinicius jr’s snub and have decided to boycott the Gala.

As reported by Marca, Real Madrid cancelled their travel to Paris and no member of the entourage will be present at the Gala. They consider it as a hitoric ‘Robbery’ and believe the decision was taken by UEFA due to their fractured relation with the club.
