USA Coach Stuart Law Sacked After ‘Discrimination’ Allegations Towards Indian-Origin Players Surface

USA Cricket recently put out a statement to announce the termination of Stuart Law, who was the national side’s head coach. Law’s sacking comes after the team’s 10-wicket defeat against Scotland in the 2027 ODI World Cup Qualifying match. The US cricket side shined in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, but they have been struggling since then. The Australian was sacked at a moment when the team was competing in the World Cup League 2 series and would face Nepal soon.

“USA Cricket announced the departure of Men’s National Team Head Coach Stuart Law today. Law was appointed to the position in April and led the team during USA’s historic performance at this year’s T20 World Cup, where the team advanced to the Super 8 in its inaugural World Cup appearance,” the statement from the USA Cricket read.

Stuart Law Axing Is Just More than Just The Team’s Poor Performance!

The termination of Stuart Law is a shocking one, but his dismissal is not just the embarrassing 10-wicket defeat against Scotland. As per Cricbuzz, The fundamental cause was the accusations of partiality, distrust, and discrimination against a group of players, which were made by seven or eight senior players of the team.

“The relationship between the senior players and Law became untenable after a series of incidents in the World Cup and the Netherlands tour had convinced them of rampant discrimination in the team. A letter penned by the players alleged how ‘his malicious outlook towards a few players has brought the team environment to its lowest ebb’. The letter further alleged how ‘he infused an air of mistrust amongst team members through his lies and deceit’. It further claimed the ‘discriminatory tactics’ against a group of players left the players ‘alienated and completely demoralised’,” the report stated.

Stuart Law was also accused of ‘lying through his teeth’ to incite the USA Cricket Team against skipper Monank Patel. Other players of Indian descent like Harmeet Singh and Milind Kumar have also encountered difficulties with the head coach.
