Hyderabad Shocker: A 25-year-old daily wager, Fayaz Qureshi, allegedly killed his wife, Khamar Begum, 23, by stabbing her multiple times and setting her on fire at their home in Bandlaguda, Old City, on Monday night. She died instantly. The incident was reportedly triggered by Qureshi’s suspicions that his wife was having an affair, said Bandlaguda police.

According to police, the couple, who had been married for six years and had two children aged five and three, had been experiencing frequent domestic disputes.

On Monday night, Qureshi returned home and confronted Begum over his suspicions, leading to a violent argument.

Qureshi then attacked her with a kitchen knife, stabbing her repeatedly.

After she collapsed on the bed, he went outside, retrieved petrol from his bike, and doused her in the flammable liquid before setting her on fire.

His mother and children were reportedly in another room at the time of the incident. When they noticed the fire, neighbours rushed to help and managed to rescue them.

While reports suggested that Qureshi had surrendered, the police stated he was still on the run and would be arrested soon.

The couple had been living in Hashamabad, and their marriage had been troubled by Qureshi’s ongoing jealousy and mistrust.

The tragic incident has shaken the local community, with police now investigating the details of the dispute that led to the horrific crime.
