Washington: The India-US ties are going to be the most important among all the relationships of the 21st century and will determine whether this turns out to be a century of light or darkness, said Mike Waltz, who is going to be the United States’ new National Security Advisor (NSA) under Donald Trump ’s administration.

Addressing an event organised by US-India Strategic and Partnership Forum (USISPF), Congressman and Trump’s NSA Mike Waltz said, “The bottom line is, in my view, this (US-India) is the most important relationship of the 21st century. This will determine whether this is a century of light or a century of darkness.”

Waltz endorsed the engagement between India and US to maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific and protect India’s sovereignty, particularly along the Line of Control (LoC).

Continuing his remarks on US-India friendship, Waltz said, “Consider my office and my team an open door to further this relationship as we press forward, and keeping the Indo-Pacific free and open and protecting Indian sovereignty particularly on the Line of Control (LoC) and ensuring that the world that we leave behind for our children and grandchildren is in line with our shared values,” he said.

“Let’s keep the momentum (in the US-India relationship) going,” Mike Waltz, who joined the event virtually, added.

A while ago, President-elect Donald Trump met President Joe Biden in the Oval Office at the White House in Washington. Biden congratulated Trump for victory in the US elections and promised for a smooth transition. Trump also thanked the President for the invitation to the White House.
