New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday arrested Taman Singh Sonwani, former chairman of the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC), and the director of Bajrang Power and Steel in connection with a Rs 45 lakh bribery case. The arrests were made following allegations of corruption in the 2021 CGPSC examination. It has been alleged that this money was taken for selection in the 2021 examination of the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission.

According to the CBI, the bribe was taken to influence the selection process for the examination.

Investigators claimed that the former CGPSC chairman conspired with the steel company director to accept the bribe and manipulate recruitment results.

The CGPSC, a prestigious body responsible for recruiting state civil servants, has faced allegations of irregularities in recent years.
