Nagpur: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was left red-faced while leading a roadshow in Nagpur, Maharashtra as a group of BJP supporters started waving party flags from the rooftop of a building. Priyanka Vadra, flashing a smile, wished them good luck for the upcoming Assembly elections on Wednesday.

However, she also made a pointed remark, exuding confidence that the election would be won by the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, comprising Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the NCP faction led by Sharad Pawar.

Priyanka, who is contesting her first electoral battle in the Wayanad bypoll, led the roadshow on the final day of campaigning before the November 20 polls in Maharashtra. The roadshow passed through Nagpur West and Nagpur Central constituencies, attracting a large crowd.

As the campaign vehicle made its way through the crowds, Priyanka waved to the people gathered on buildings and along the roadside. Near the end of the roadshow, a group on a building waved BJP flags and shouted slogans in support of the party.

In response, Congress supporters raised their own chants. At one point, Priyanka took the microphone and addressed the BJP flag-wavers, saying, “Friends in the BJP, I wish you all the best for the election. But it is the Maha Vikas Aghadi that will emerge victorious.”

Nagpur, is considered a stronghold of the BJP.

At present, the Nagpur Lok Sabha seat has been held by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari since 2014, and four out of its six Assembly segments are currently represented by the BJP. Nagpur West is currently represented by Congress, while Nagpur Central has been held by the BJP since 2009.
