Beed: In a shocking incident, an independent candidate Balasaheb Shinde who was contesting from the Beed constituency in the Maharashtra Assembly election, died of a heart attack at the polling booth on Wednesday.
The incident occurred when he had stopped at the polling station in Chhatrapati Shahu Vidyalaya, Beed city.
Balasaheb Shinde suddenly fell down at the polling booth and was taken to Kuku Nana Hospital at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, but doctors there declared him dead before admission.
Balasaheb Shinde, known for his grassroots connection and independent political viewpoint, had been actively campaigning in the region.
Shinde was a prominent figure in Beed, contesting as an independent candidate to address issues he believed were neglected by mainstream political parties.
