Uttar Pradesh By-Election Exit Poll LIVE: Polling has concluded in Uttar Pradesh’s nine assembly seats: Phulpur, Majhawan, Karhal, Katehari, Kundarki, Meerapur, Khair, Sisamau and Ghaziabad. As many as 90 candidates were in fray in the Uttar Pradesh by-election with Ghaziabad topping the chart with 14 candidates. In the 2022 assembly elections, these seats were divided between the Samajwadi Party (SP), Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ), and BJP ally Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). The by-elections were called due to the vacancy of these nine Assembly seats for various reasons.

Uttar Pradesh By-Election Exit Poll Live: 

  • In the 2022 Assembly elections, a tough fight was witnessed between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) on most of the seats. The SP, however, managed to emerge by registering a win on four of these nine seats. 
  • Polling started on a dull note on November 20 in the by-polls to 9 assembly seats spread across Uttar Pradesh.
  • A total of 90 candidates are contesting in these constituencies, with Ghaziabad having the highest number of candidates at 14. There are 34,35,974 registered voters in the state, comprising 18,46,846 men, 15,88,967 women, and 161 third-gender voters. Ghaziabad has the largest voter base, while Sisamau has the smallest.
  • This marks the first electoral challenge for the INDI Alliance and the NDA in the politically significant state since the Lok Sabha elections.
  • The results of the by-poll are scheduled for November 23. The 2024 by-elections were held in the Phulpur Assembly seat in Prayagraj, Majhawan in Mirzapur, Karhal in Mainpuri, Katehari in Ambedkar Nagar, Kundarki in Moradabad, Meerapur in Muzaffarnagar, Khair in Aligarh, Sisamau in Kanpur and Ghaziabad.
