With Mohammed Shami not in the reckoning for the upcoming BGT, there were speculations that Mayank Yadav may be considered – but that was not to be. So, why was Mayank not picked up for the BGT? Mayank, the fast bowler, was not considered for BGT because of back issues. As per a BCCI official, Mayank could have picked up a stress fracture and would be out for some time now.

“There appears to be some problem with his back. Could also be a case of stress fracture. As per the earlier prescription from the NCA, he could play in the Ranji Trophy from its fourth or fifth round, but that’s no longer possible now. He’s again out for quite some time,” a BCCI official told PTI.

“It’s not that Mayank has sustained a fresh injury, but he has been advised not to play now as they’re looking to have him back for the England ODIs,” Indian Express was quoted by PTI.

The Rise of Mayank

The 22-year-old pacer was picked up by LSG during the IPL 2022 auction. But despite being picked up, he did not feature in the first two edition with injury again being the cause for him to be ruled out of the 2023 edition. The tearaway pacer is likely to be retained by LSG before the next mega auction, but the franchise would hope he is fit in time for the 2025 season.
