‘Pakistan fans love Indian players’

“Pakistan fans love Indian players; we received love in Indian players; we received love in India as well (during the 2023 World Cup). We also want India to come to Pakistan and play here,” Rizwan said.

I’m unsure if they’re coming for the Champions Trophy , but one thing is certain – if they come, they’ll receive an awesome welcome here,” he added.

India has not sent it’s cricket team to Pakistan since 2008 due to the tense political relations between the two countries.

In the most recent face-off between the two nations, India beat Pakistan by six runs in the 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA.

Future of Champions Trophy

There is no clarity provided from the Indian government and hence nothing can be confirmed right now. The ICC officials were in Pakistan for an inspection of the conditions that are set to be used during the marquee event. There is a high speculation that the tournament happens in a hybrid model. As per the hybrid model, India will play all it’s games on a neutral venue. Dubai is being contemplated as a possible venue. This approach is reminiscent of the recent 2023 Asia Cup , where India played it’s games outside Pakistan.
