New Delhi: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Delhi Police Crime Branch has successfully dismantled a major narco syndicate that was distributing banned narcotic drugs across India. These drugs included Tramadol tablets and Pentazocine injections. The operation led to the arrest of four key operatives and the seizure of high-value contraband worth over Rs 1 crore from the accused.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP, Crime Branch), Bhisham Singh said that the narco syndicate was involved in the distribution of banned narcotic drugs, including Tramadol tablets and Pentazocine injections. The four accused arrested in this operation have been identified as Chandan Kumar Rout, Arvind Singh, Parshuram, and Sushant Garg.
DCP Singh said, “On 26.10.2024, following a tip-off, a team from ANTF/Crime Branch arrested one Chandan Kumar Rout from near Batra Hospital on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, Delhi, in possession of 6.792 kg of Tramadol tablets, classified as a commercial quantity under the NDPS Act. A case was registered at the Crime Branch in Delhi.”
“Under the ongoing drive against drug traffickers in Delhi, the ANTF team developed intelligence on Chandan Kumar Rout, a trafficker based in Faridabad, dealing in restricted Tramadol tablets. An operational team, led by Inspector Pankaj Kumar and supervised by ACP Anil Sharma, swiftly mobilized to intercept him. Acting on credible information, the team apprehended Rout near Batra Hospital, uncovering a consignment of Tramadol tablets concealed in his vehicle,” the DCP said.
According to the police official, during further investigation, one Arvind Singh, the proprietor of Shiva Pharma in Okhla, was identified as arrested accused Rout’s supplier, while Parshuram, associated with Ekta Vihar in Delhi, was found to be a buyer from Arvind Singh and a supplier to end-users.
The investigation further revealed that Sushant Garg, the owner of Healthy Life Pharmacy in Lajpat Nagar, was a distributor who supplied banned Codeine syrup to consumers from Afghanistan and Jammu & Kashmir.
The operation also led to the seizure of high-value narcotics, including Tramadol tablets and Pentazocine injections, worth approximately Rs 1 crore. Four properties with an estimated value of Rs 4 crores have been identified and are now under scrutiny as part of a detailed financial investigation.
The police said that the supply chain of the syndicate has been uncovered, with identified links to receivers and suppliers in Jammu and Kashmir. The recovered injections were sourced from Haryana, indicating a multi-state supply chain.
