Mumbai: To ensure seamless transportation during the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Election 2024, the Maha Mumbai Metro Operations Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL) has announced extended metro services on November 20, 2024. This initiative aims to make travel convenient for voters and election staff, encouraging a higher voter turnout across Mumbai. Additionally, the Central Railways has introduced special local trains starting today to further accommodate election-related commuters.

Extended Metro Services: Key Details

The Mumbai Metro will operate for extended hours on polling day:

• Early morning services: From 4:00 AM to 5:22 AM
• Late-night services: From 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM
• Frequency: Trains will run every 20 minutes during these periods.

Additional trips:

• Metro services will include 19 extra trips, raising the daily count from 243 to 262.
• Regular metro operations will continue as usual from 5:22 AM to 11:00 PM.

The first metro trains will start at 4:00 AM from key stations like Gundavali, Dahisar East, and Andheri West. The final train will depart at 1:00 AM on November 21, 2024.

These adjustments aim to ensure that both voters and election officials can travel smoothly throughout the day and night.

Central Railways Introduces Special Local Trains

To complement metro services, Central Railways has scheduled special suburban trains on the nights of November 19-20 and November 20-21. These trains will operate on the Main Line (CSMT-Kalyan) and Harbour Line (CSMT-Panvel), stopping at all stations for maximum accessibility.
