Pregnant Russian Tourist Among 15 Rescued from Sea in Goa Over Weekend

Panaji: Over the weekend, 15 people, including five Russians, were rescued from drowning along the Goa coastline in separate incidents.

A pregnant Russian woman was saved off Benaulim Beach in south Goa, while a Russian couple was rescued at Sinquerim Beach in the north. Additionally, a 72-year-old Russian man and a woman were pulled from the sea at Candolim Beach.

A spokesperson for Drishti Marine Agency reported that the weekend’s rescues included four double rescues and seven individual rescues.

In a similar incident, a Russian couple swimming off Sinquerim Beach got caught in a strong rip current. The husband managed to make it to shore, while lifesaver Sandesh Malkar used his surfboard to rescue the 50-year-old woman, who was struggling in the currents, and safely brought her to shore.
