Dehradun: A chaotic scene unfolded during the Territorial Army recruitment drive in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh after a massive crowd of youth went out of control during the ongoing process of recruitment.

Thousands of aspirants including many from neighboring states gathered at the recruitment site leading to a situation of overcrowding and disorder.

Tensions escalated when candidates who were already frustrated because of the arrangements and difficulties of reaching the venue, broke through the gate and stormed inside.

The situation quickly deteriorated further prompting the police to resort to lathi charges to manage the crowd leading to a stampede.

Many aspirants were injured following the stampede.
