14th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship: Odisha Secure Title; Haryana Finish Second

The Final of the 14th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship saw Hockey Association of Odisha emerge victorious over Hockey Haryana to claim the championship title. Meanwhile, in the clash for Third Place, Uttar Pradesh Hockey defeated Manipur Hockey, rounding off an intense final day of competition at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium, in Chennai.

Odisha Beat Haryana To Win National Championship

In a thrilling final, the Hockey Association of Odisha triumphed over Hockey Haryana with a 5-1 victory. Rajat Akash Tirkey (11’) opened the scoring early, finishing from close range after a clever pass from Sudeep Chirmako inside the box. Pratap Lakra (39’) doubled the lead in the third quarter, converting a Penalty Stroke. In the final quarter, Shilanand Lakra (48’, 57’, 60’) netted a hat-trick in just 12 minutes to seal the win for Hockey Association of Odisha. Hockey Haryana’s Joginder Singh (55’) managed a late consolation goal in the final moments of the match.

In the third-place playoff, Uttar Pradesh Hockey edged out Manipur Hockey 2-1. Uttar Pradesh Captain, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay (6’), opened the scoring early in the first quarter, tapping in a pass from Iktidar Ishrat after a well-weighted long ball from Rajkumar Pal. Manipur equalized in the third quarter through Moirangthem Rabichandra Singh (43’) from a Penalty Corner. However, Uttar Pradesh regained the lead in the final quarter when Rajkumar Pal (54’) finished a brilliant solo run down the right flank, securing the victory for Uttar Pradesh.
