Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir faced the wrath of fans on social media after his post wishing former player Irfan Pathan on his birthday. The timing of the post, coming on the heels of India’s Test series loss to New Zealand, didn’t sit well with fans.

Gautam Gambhir’s message read, “Many happy returns of the day brother! Your smile illuminates our lives.”

Gautam Gambhir faces backlash

However, fans were quick to point out Gautam Gambhir’s apparent lack of focus on the team’s performance, with one user commenting, “You should leave coaching if we lose one more test, walk the talk.”

Another user wrote, “Match pe dhyan de be bhai tu happy birthday happy birthday bad me khelna.”

The backlash continued, with fans expressing their disappointment and frustration with the team’s performance under Gautam Gambhir’s coaching. One user even called him a “hyped coach” who needs to deliver results.

Gautam Gambhir’s post was meant to be a heartfelt message to a former player, but it ended up getting bombarded by fans who are clearly unhappy with the team’s performance. The pressure is now on Gambhir to turn things around and get the team back on track.

India are scheduled to play the third Test match against New Zealand from November 1 to 5 in Mumbai. India now have a total of six Test matches left before the World Test Championship (WTC) final and they must win at least four of them to qualify.
