Is Virat Kohli’s Comparison With Sachin Tendulkar Still Justified?

From dictating the game and emerging as the most dominant batsman across all the formats, Virat Kohli has witnessed a certain plummet, especially in the longest format of the game. While he put an end to the rough patch, where he was stuck at the 71st-century mark for a prolonged period two years ago, but the great old Kohli, who had an insatiable hunger for runs regardless of the conditions and bowling prowess, remains missing from the longest format of the game. Taking into account his scores in the last 23 Test innings (From 2023 to present date), he has scored only two centuries and three half-centuries. This is quite the opposite of the consistency that took him to the undisputed stature he is at today.

Courtesy of the records Virat Kohli has woven at the international dais, comparisons with Sachin Tendulkar will always loom, more so when he has already leapfrogged the Master Blaster’s record of scoring most centuries in ODI cricket. However, the struggle against spin has left people wondering whether Virat Kohli is as effective against spin as Sachin Tendulkar was throughout his career.

The failures that have piled up have affected Virat Kohli’s statistics by a huge degree and it will be intriguing to see whether Kohli will be able to brush off this phase to once again justify the moniker of King.
