Novak Djokovic Pulls Out From ATP Finals In Turin, Serbian Star Says Dealing With ‘Ongoing Injury’

Fans in Turin, Italy, could be left disappointed after it was revealed that Novak Djokovic will not be a part of the coveted ATP Final event. The Serbian Tennis star, who is the defending champion, has pulled put of the tournament. The Nitto ATP Final features eight of the top ranked singles and doubles Tennis players to take part in the season finale, but Djokovic will not be seen in action in Italy.

Defending Champion Novak Djokovic To Not Feature At ATP Finals In Turin Due To Injury  

Novak Djokovic will not defend his ATP Finals title after withdrawing on Tuesday due to an unspecified injury. The Serbian tennis star has won it a record seven times. Last year, Novak defeated current No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the final to win the title. The Star Serbian was expected to compete in the Final event ATP, but he has now revealed that due to an injury, he has withdrew from the tournament.

“It’s quite an honor to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin. I was really looking forward to being there, but due to ongoing injury I won’t be playing next week. Apologies to those who were planning to see me. Wishing all the players a great tournament. See you soon!” Djokovic posted on Instagram Stories.

Novak Djokovic finishes the year with a 37-9 win-loss record, capped by his first Olympic gold medal in Paris. This was his 99th tour-level title. He did not add to his men’s record 24 Grand Slam titles this year, and after falling out of the third round of the U.S. Open, he played only one Davis Cup match before reaching the final of the Shanghai Masters last month, losing to Sinner. He then withdrew due to injury from the Paris Masters.

The year-end eight-man ATP Finals open will be held on Sunday in Turin, Italy.
