The Rajasthan Royals had a lot of star power in the franchise, so the IPL 2025 Retentions were especially difficult for them. They had to make amends and elect some of the team’s best players while releasing others because they could only retain six members in the core. This season, RR made some wise decisions and kept several players who have been in excellent form and have excelled for the team. The franchise’s new head coach, Rahul Dravid, has opened up on how the management decided to retain some of their star players ahead of the IPL Mega Auction for the 2025 season.

During an appearance on JioCinema, Rajasthan  Royals’ new head coach, Rahul Dravid, opened up on making six retentions in the squad. He expressed on keeping the stability intact as they head into the mega auction. While he pointed out that they would have less cash in their purse, the franchise’s core strength they they have locked in certain areas.

“There is definitely stability when you retain six players. We could only retain six players, but if we could have done more, we would have retained more for sure. We believe that the players we have retained are deserving. Of course, you have less money when you go to the auction, but there is a certain stability that you have blocked in some areas, and then you can see how you have to make the whole team,” Rahul Dravid said.

He was a top retainer pick for us, and he was very involved in our decision process as well,” Dravid added.
