Ravi Shastri Offers A Quirky Take on The Legendary Sachin Tendulkar’ Training Practices

Former India Cricketer Ravi Shastri, who was on commentary duties, diverted from the usual match-calling and spoke about Team India’s training practices alongside Dinesh Karthik . The discussion initially began with Virat Kohli ‘s run in the nets, which eventually turned upon how Sachin Tendulkar was during practices and how focused he used to be. The commentators drew attention to the fact that Kohli would play a session against net bowlers,  another against the slingers, coaches, and then with the team’s backroom staff, who utilize bowling arms to simulate bounce and motion. Shastri made an unusual yet quirky comment on how Virat Kohli’s approach was different to the legendary Tendulkar.

“Sachin Tendulkar, in his younger days, had ants in his pants. Every time he got done with his batting in the nets, he would either grab the ball and bowl or do fielding drills. You just couldn’t keep him quiet,” Ravi Shastri said during commentary on JioCinema.

While Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli had very distinctive training approaches, both of them went on to become the greatest Indian cricketers. Sachin emerged as an inspiration to several cricketers with his spectacular career, while Virat is currently one of the modern-day greats as he continues his career in ODIs and Test Cricket.

Virat Kohli is expected to make an impactful run in the 2nd Test Match against New Zealand. The Pune Test say Team India’s batting came up on the first day itself after the Kiwis were bowled out at 259, courtesy of R Ashwin and Washington Sundar’s bowling spell. The Men in Blue suffered an early blow after skipper Rohit Sharma walked off for a nine-ball duck. Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal manned the crease when the Stumps were declared.
