The Rohit Sharma -led Men in Blue failed to deliver while coming in to bat, as they were dismissed at 159, failing to take the lead. The Blackcaps have been utterly dominant over India. One of the biggest fumbles happened when star batter Virat Kohli lost his wicket, and the team’s biggest hopes had to walk back with almost no impact. A former India cricketer expressed dismay over Kohli’s shot selection and misjudgment of the ball.

New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner dismissed Virat Kohli in the 4th ball of the 23rd over, and he had to walk back after scoring just one run. The entire MCA Stadium crowd went silent after Virat’s dismissal, and the batter was also in disbelief. Former India Cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar put his thoughts on ‘X’ [Formerly Twitter], saying that the star batter has just played the worst shot of his career to get dismissed.

“Oh dear! Virat will know himself that he has just played the worst shot of his career to get out. Got to feel for him…coz as always he came out with solid & honest intent,” tweeted Manjrekar.

Regarding the match, R Ashwin and Washington Sundar triggered a massive collapse as the spin battery took out the New Zealand batters. Ash scalped three while Sundar took a seven-fer to bowl out New Zealand at 259. Team India was at 16/1 during Day 1 play when the stumps were called. But Day 2 brutally exposed India’s vulnerability to spin bowling. While Ravindra Jadeja, Shubman Gill & Yashasvi Jaiswal played decently for the Men in Blue, they were bundled out at just 156 runs. With NZ still having the lead, they aim to take it as far as possible and mount pressure on the Indian Cricket Team and hand the hosts a rare Test series defeat at home.
