AB De Villiers has revealed the players he wants RCB to target at the IPL 2025 mega auction. As per De Villiers, RCB have done well to hold onto Virat Kohli and have also saved a lot of money heading into the auction. De Villiers reckons the side needs a top bowling attack that can win RCB the title. And for that, he wants RCB to get Yuzvendra Chahal back. Apart from Chahal, De Villiers wants RCB to get Ravichandran Ashwin , Kagiso Rabada and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

‘There’s lots of options’

“My four priority players are Yuzvendra Chahal, Kagiso Rabada, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Ravi Ashwin. We can make a plan with the rest of the money we have left in the auction. If you can’t get him, get hold of Arshdeep Singh. So there’s lots of options,” De Villiers said on his YouTube channel.

‘We don’t need a trophy’

“We don’t need a trophy. Forget about the trophy. We need a trophy. We need a team that understands the Chinnaswamy, who can bowl to plans, who can play to plans, who has got a very good understanding about the game of cricket,” de Villiers noted.

RCB happen to be one of the few sides that are yet to win an IPL title. Over the years, RCB have boasted of some of cricket’s biggest names, yet the silverware has eluded them.

At the Retentions, RCB have held onto Kohli, Yash Dayal, and Rajat Patidar. They still have a remaining purse of Rs 83 Cr.

In the 2024 season, RCB finished fourth. They could not make it to the summit clash. It would be interesting to see the players they bid for during the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction.
