New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party leader Amanatullah Khan got bail in a money laundering and financial irregularities case, on Thursday.

The court directed to release him on bond of ₹1 lakh.

The court stated that there was sufficient evidence against him but there was no sanction to prosecute him and declined the Cognizance. The court further added that there is no evidence against Mariam Siddiqui and is also discharged in the same case.

Amanatullah Khan, who served as the Chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board from 2016 to 2023, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on September 2, 2024. The arrest followed allegations of financial irregularities and money laundering. The ED has accused Khan of directing funds towards property purchases, including a substantial ₹36-crore property in Okhla, with ₹27 crore reportedly paid in cash.

The property was allegedly bought under Khan’s influence in the name of his second wife, Mariam Siddiqui.

The ED presented evidence from a diary and WhatsApp chats, which reportedly contained Khan’s name multiple times. An entry in the diary, allegedly written by Kausar Imam Siddiqui, referenced financial transactions with phrases like “Netaji ko paisa pahuncha diya” (money delivered to the leader), aligning with suspicious transactions on corresponding dates.
