Sunil Gavaskar Cut Out A Frustrated Figure
The spinners have constantly delivered for India in the entire series but it is the batters that have let down the team. Yet, it is the players of the former category that have left India’s batting legend Sunil Gavaskar furious. Why? On Day 1 of the 3rd India vs New Zealand Test, the spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar bowled 8 of the innings 9 no-balls. The indiscipline left Sunil Gavaskar frustrated, so much so that he broke a plate in rage, as revealed by Ravi Shastri while carrying out the commentary duties for the Test.
“Sunil Gavaskar was having lunch. He smashed the plate on the wall,” said Shastri humorously on air. “Thank god he’s not fielding in the slip. Washington would have been close to Washington DC.”
