Richa Ghosh returns after Shafali Verma is dropped for Australia’s ODIs
According to a report from ESPN Cricinfo, a run of poor performances has left Shafali Verma out from India’s team for the next three-match ODI series against Australia. Richa Ghosh, the wicketkeeper-batteries, has returned to the squad after missing the home ODIs against New Zealand as her board examinations kept her absent.
Additionally, a number of new players are added to the team: legspinner Minnu Mani, fast bowler Titas Sadhu, Priya Punia, and Harleen Deol all get call-ups. These players will join the sixteen-member team for the three ODIs set for Brisbane and Perth on December 5, 8, and 11.
Asha Sobhana, the legspinner, is still sidelined by injury and will not be participating in the New Zealand series. Rested for the last series, allrounder Pooja Vastrakar is also absent from the team. Not chosen also are offspener Shreyanka Patil, spin-bowling allrounder D Hemalatha, uncapped pacer Sayali Satghare, and backup wicketkeeper Uma Chetry.
On their debuts against New Zealand, middle-order hitter Tejal Hasabnis, legspinner Priya Mishra, and seamer Saima Thakor all kept their spots for the series against Australia.
